Vižinada

Vižinada is a village and municipal center in the interior of western Istria. The inhabitants are engaged in agriculture and service activities, and the area of ​​Vižinada is known for agritourism and many award-winning winemakers and wines. The natural ambience of Vižinada and surrounding settlements has favored the development of rural tourism, which includes traditional events: Poems at the well, a meeting of Chakavian poets, Sweet Istria - a festival of local traditional Istrian cakes and desserts, folk festival St. Marija Vela, and the recreational cycling marathon Parenzana. The most famous archeological sites are Ružar sv. Toma, Medulin and Bošket, and ancient inscriptions come from the villages of Žudetić and Maštelić. In addition to historical and cultural sights, rich vineyards that produce wines of special aromas due to the quality of the country, and famous cuisine enchanted by the fruits of this picturesque region, the old town of Vižinada offers unique recreational pleasures on the restored Parenzana, a former railway link between Poreč and Trieste.
