Pula
Pula is the largest city in Istria, lying in the southwestern part of the Istrian peninsula, in a well-protected bay. Pula has been of great importance since ancient times, it has been the administrative center of Istria since Roman times. Pula is more than 3000 years old. The city has a long tradition of winemaking, fishing, shipbuilding and tourism, and is also a transit port. Since the period of humanism and renaissance, the ancient cultural monuments of Pula have become more and more famous in the European cultural public. Hercules Gate, Church and Monastery of St. Francis, the castle and naval cemetery, as well as great ancient monuments and numerous museums. Not far from Pula is the Brijuni National Park, a top attraction for all nature lovers.
