Brijuni
Due to its exceptional value, Brijuni, together with the surrounding sea and underwater world, has been declared a National Park. The Brijuni archipelago is located on the southern part of the western coast of Istria, with a total of 14 islands and islets, making them the most indented and largest group of islands in the Istrian region. The Brijuni Islands, or the Brijuni archipelago, is today one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Croatia. They are only 6 kilometers away from Pula, and they are divided by the Fažana Channel, through which a boat to Brijuni runs daily from the port of Fažana. The Brijuni archipelago consists of two large islands - Veliki and Mali Brijun, and 12 smaller islands with very indented coastline, which have been inhabited since prehistoric times. The fauna on the islands is enriched with many introduced species, so in addition to indigenous such as rabbits or various species of birds, you can see exotic animals that have acclimatized, such as deer, llama, zebra, ostrich, giraffe, elephant .. With fauna, flora has an inevitable role. The Mediterranean climate, with a lot of sun and heat and a lot of humidity in the air, has enabled lush vegetation of indigenous plants, and part of the national park is planted with tropical plants that form specially arranged alleys, parks and gardens. Among the Brijuni flora, the most famous is the Old Olive, one of the oldest in the Mediterranean. After 1600 years of age, it bears fruit from which olive oil is then obtained. Golf lovers can enjoy nature and the game. It is a special experience to cross Brijuni on bicycles that are available in the Park. Brijuni is connected to the mainland by a ferry line from Fažana.
